School Closure Update – 28th February
We have taken the decision to close the Nursery today due to the weather conditions. The road leading to nursery is extremely dangerous, as are the footpaths into nursery. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, however feel that this is the correct decision to ensure safety of children, parents and staff.
Please continue to check for updates on the website and Facebook.
Thank you
Athens Nursery Team
Light Project Exhibition at the Gala Theatre
Our Nursery was asked by Durham County Council, to take part in a project alongside other nurseries in East Durham. A group of children from Nursery attended 3 sessions at Easington Barn, to explore light within the natural environment, alongside artist Nicola Balfour.
The work and documentation from the Barn sessions is being used to form part of an art exhibition, including a film which has been made of the project. This will be on display at the Gala Theatre in Durham in their gallery space.
Families and children who took part in the project have been invited to attend the opening of the exhibition on Thursday 11th January at 5.30pm, where they will be able to see a preview of the film and look at the work and photographs of the children.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Friday 12th January for 4 weeks. We are extremely proud of the children’s work and that we have been asked to be part of such an exciting project. We would like to encourage all of our families to go in and have a look if they are near the Gala Theatre.
A tearful goodbye to Amy

We would like to wish her lots of luck for the future and hope she comes back to visit us soon.
